We employ drivers from all walks of life. Our drivers work as part of a team, alongside receptionists, nurses and doctors.
Our driver role is interesting and varied and involves a lot more than just driving safely.
Duties include the cleaning and stocking up of vehicles, learning to use our mobile computer system, dealing with the public when providing the patient transport service and working alongside GPs when providing the home visit transport service. As there is a physical element to the work drivers do need to be in good general health.
You will be trained in the use of our mobile computer system that will inform you of the visits you will make with the doctor. If you are interested in broadening your skills, we can provide training in reception and call taking duties.
We offer the following types of driving work:
full time (on a rota covering weekends, evenings and overnights)
part time (16 hours per weekend)
bank drivers (who we can call in at short notice)
The hours of work mainly cover the period when we are open for patient care – evenings, overnight and 24/7 at weekends and on bank holidays. The shifts drivers normally work are 08:00 – 16:00, 16:00 – Midnight and Midnight until 08:00.
Driving licence requirements:–
Full driving licence with a maximum of 3 current points.
If you passed your test before 1 January 1997 it must have group A on the licence and you must be over 21.
If you passed your test after 1 January 1997 you will need to have taken a further test to drive one of our minibuses.
Drivers have to pass our own driving assessment before being recruited.
