NEMS telephone call handlers and workload co-ordinators work alongside our nurses, doctors and drivers and ensure that patients and other callers get a prompt, safe and efficient service. The work is interesting and varied and suits well-organised people with good interpersonal and telephone skills. Full training can be given to the right applicants. Many staff progress from call handling, through coordination and on to the shift leader role.
We offer a range of opportunities from a few hours a week as a second job to full-time roles. Call handlers and coordinators are required predominantly in the out-of-hours period - see the table below.
