Working For NEMS ::

Drivers

We employ drivers from all walks of life. Our drivers work as part of a team, alongside receptionists, nurses and doctors.

As a driver, your main tasks are the safe transport of patients to and from our health centre and driving doctors to patients' homes to make home visits. This sounds fairly easy but you will need plenty of patience, compassion and willingness to help. You also need to in reasonably good health.

You will be trained in the use of our in-car computer system that will inform you of the visits you will make with the doctor. If you are interested in broadening your skills, we can provide training in reception and call taking duties.

We offer the following type of driving work:
–    full time (39.25 hours per week on a rota covering weekends, evenings and overnights)
–    part time (16 hours per weekend),
–    bank drivers (who we can call in at short notice )
–    multi skilled staff (who work a variety of hours driving combined with reception or telephone duties)

The hours of work mainly cover the period when we are open for patient care – evenings, overnight and 24/7 at weekends and on bank holidays. So many of our working hours are ‘unsocial’. The shifts drivers normally work are 08:00 – 16:00, 16:00 – Midnight and Midnight until 08:00.
